Formalized in 2016, we include government and non-government partners working together to advance food service guidelines.
The Food Service Guidelines Collaborative works throughout the food system to leverage institutional food service purchases to support eating patterns aligned with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. This group seeks to promote healthy diets that are the end result of a food system that conserves and renews natural resources, advances social justice and animal welfare, builds community wealth, and fulfills the food and nutrition needs of all eaters now and into the future.
Build the field by engaging diverse stakeholders to use and support Food Service Guidelines (FSG).
Facilitate coordination and information sharing to accelerate progress.
Identify gaps in knowledge about the food service system including production, purchasing, distribution, supply, availability, private sector FSG use, operations, and standard and best industry practices.
Identify priorities for research and evaluation to assess the factors that lead to successful FSG use.
Develop and disseminate strategies to support effective FSG use and progress toward this being a standard industry practice.
To facilitate information sharing, the Food Service Guidelines Collaborative manages a listserv that members can use to share resources and pose questions. The FSGC also convenes a NOPREN working group that focuses on food service guidelines. To learn more, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
